Safaris are accompanied by Colin or Daryl Dandridge, who have both been conducting safaris in Botswana for the past forty years.
Colin Dandridge has been involved in outdoor activities in Southern Africa all his life – especially fishing, diving and wildlife photography. He also spends a great amount of time customising and maintaining his safari vehicles and camping equipment, ensuring that they remain in top condition.
Colin began professional guiding in Botswana in 1975 as a camp manager for Ker Downey and Selby, managing a tented safari camp in Chobe National Park. Identifying a need for personalised safari experience, he later started his own business, outfitting specialised camping safaris in and around the Okavango Delta.
Colin’s knowledge gained through forty years in the tourism business in Botswana has refined his approach to the Old Style African Safari and identifying clients needs. His relaxed and capable manner is combined with a broad understanding of Botswana’s wildlife and wild places.
Colin’s brother Daryl, came to Botswana in 1959 after leaving school. En route to Zambia, he stopped in Francistown where he found a job working for the late and legendary Bobby Wilmot who had a business there incorporating a store, transport and crocodile hunting.
Daryl later worked for the Department of Wildlife and Veterinary Services involved in hunting and problem animal control. He then joined Ker Downey and Selby in 1967 and was employed in hunting and photographic safaris as well as general field maintenance, his career path set, he has been actively involved in the safari business in Botswana ever since. Daryl is a self-taught naturalist. Though soft spoken and inclined to reticence – it is a demeanour that belies his extensive and comprehensive knowledge of his environment.
